Ok, Jeromy and I got up real early this morning, I wanted to make pancakes for the kids but I wanted to have them all cooked and warming in the oven so when they woke up they could all eat together. And Jeromy doesn't really care for pancakes, so I made his favorite eggs ham and onion with toast- one of his favorites anyway!
Anyway, while they were eating, Jeromy called and said we forgot to set out clocks back an hour last night....LAME!!! Jeromy already went to church early and now he was even earlier! He and one other guy were the only ones there for a while. But that meant I was able to go back to sleep for another 45 minutes while the kids played video games. Super sweet!!!!
Then we headed to church. The Japanese Bibles the church ordered didn't show up on time, so that was a total bummer, the boys tried to follow along in Jade's Bible, but it was difficult, poor Hide was falling asleep towards the end cause they didn't know what was being said.
More snacking in the church kitchen....
Here's a short video of Hide playing the piano...
Then Kyle showed them his electric guitar... here's Hide playing that... pretty talented kid...
Here's Kyle also playing some guitar.... a new song he said he's been practising....
Before we left I snapped a picture of Jason and Hannah...
Ok, so what I wanted to do was go to Hunter Farms, but we found out that they are only open from Oct 1st to 31st.... what about November people??? So then we found the corn maze off of wheaton way that is really cool, and they also stopped showing after Oct 31st, I was so disappointed, probably more so than the kids :o(
Oh well, bowling was our back up idea... I think they had fun...
We also ran into 2 other kids at the bowling alley that came with their Japanese class.... they all seemed happy to run into each other...
Here's all the kids pointing to their scores... let's just say that Kyle kicked some American and Japanese butt... is that politically correct to say??
It was such a gorgeous (but cold) day that I wanted to take advantage of it by going to the waterfront....
Jeromy had this hilarious idea of making the dock rock, he's such a big kid, but that's one of the things I love about him... 99.999% of the time anyway LOL...
Here's their first attempt...
Now I think they got it....
Jade layed down to check out the sea life, so all the other kids did the same... except for "cautious" Kent! Love that boy....
Skipping stones...
Pretending to eat crabs, oh and Laura, Kyle has some muscles/clams in his pocket he wanted to boil and eat, and I told him he'd have to wait till he got home so he could do that with you, LOL have fun!
Then everybody had worked up their appetite again, and we were all craving Famous Dave's, especially the 4 teenage boys and Jeromy!!
We got 2 trash can lids, a big one for the kids to split and a small one for Jeromy and I. A couple of the kids were still hungry, sorry Jade and Kyle, and Kyle was so polite making sure the guests got some of everything, he kept offering stuff to them, I told him he better start grabbing food so he could have some, too!
The boys really liked the food, Hide just bit into something really spicy when I took this picture!
Kyle got the last chicken...
Afterwards we ran to Walgreens to get a few things, like dessert that we'd all be eating later... much later. I also developed all the picture I took over the weekend and got doubles and put them into those little mini 4X6 photo albums for the kids to take home.
We also had gotten little souvenirs over the weekend and wrapped them all up with the photo albums a fork, knife and spoon ( the boys had gotten us some cool chopsticks- so we thought they'd like an american place setting). We presented the presents to the boys, including extra wetnaps from Famous Dave's- they thought that was pretty funny. On the little albums, I had american sticker of red white and blue with their names in stickers on the cover. Both boys really liked them, and Hayata kept putting the album to his face, squeezing his eyes shut saying thank you. It looked like he was crying. It was so sweet, Hayata told us at the beginning of the trip that he had a camera but his battery was dead, so I think he was happy to be getting pictures. Each book has about 40 pictures of all the stuff we did this weekend.
We bring the boys back to Olympic High School tomorrow morning at 7:45am, then they head back to the airport for Japan!
We had so much fun with Hide and Hayata, and we were glad that family and friends could hang out, too, thanks Kyle for making their time more fun!
