We did the Sound to Narrows run this morning!!!! This run was tougher than I remember. I've done it 2 other times: in 2009, and 2007. Kinda seem to be doing an every other year thing. I knew there were some hills in it, but truthfully almost the whole thing is a mild hill to an extreme hill!!! But I was excited to run!!!
I was running the 12K (7.45 miles) with my cousin Laura. Her son Kyle was also doing the 12K. Jade and Kent were doing the 5K (3.1 miles)- I was really proud of them both for signing up, I only had to push a little :o) they both had started training a little bit at the YMCA and they both did great. I think Jade getting better supportive running shoes has really improved her attitude towards running- her feet don't hurt anymore!!!
This is a timing chip that all the runners put around their ankle so you get the exact time YOU ran when you cross the starting line that reads the chip and when you cross the finish line. Pretty accurate results.
Here are we 3...
Jeromy is still baby-ing his knee so he wasn't running, but he was our official photographer and bag holder extraordinaire!!!
They were handing out free coffee, just what I needed to wake up a little bit and get that blood pumping!
Kent likes to swing...
Then we met up with Laura and Kyle!
We all walked around the booths to score some free stuff. Here's Kyle holding up the equivalent of 5 lbs of fat, Laura is holding up the same mass of muscle, which is alot heavier... is that why I weigh more than I look cause I'm so buff???
Here's Laura and I getting ready to run....
Jeromy got a picture of Kent as he's about to cross the finish line... look at those legs run!!!
Here's Jade about to cross the finish line...
Here comes Kyle finishing his 12K...
Jeromy missed getting Laura and my picture- we crossed the finish line together, I can't believe he missed it, but he got distracted for only a second. But here were are after the race.... we checked out times on line thur the timing chip's website, and my time was 1:14:03, that's one hour, 14 minutes and 3 seconds. And I guess I technically beat Laura but by only one second, her time was 1:14:04, but she did get a random phone call during the race that totally messed with her flo!
Us trying to catch our breath and massaging the ol' knees at the same time!
Walking back to the car...
Stretching on the hood of my car... I always forget to stretch at actual runs, but not this time!!!
The run was sponsored by Roman Meal Bread, so every runner got a free loaf of bread at the end of the run. It was funny people were saying "I earned this loaf of bread!", they also had free SoBe drinks and Gatorade and fruit! I love free stuff...
And of course our cool crazy colored shirts! Also super cool free water bottle!
So you're probably wondering what we're going to do with 3 loaves of bread... no?... I'll tell you anyway... french toast for lunch- it was yummy!!
Jeromy and I are running to Costco a little later and then we're going to have grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.
What a great day, God is so good to us!
