Yay, a camera, perfect for his Europe trip!!! I also had been asking Kent what he wanted to do on his 17th birthday, like did he want to have a bunch of his guy friends over and have a pizza party of something. But Kent said he'd rather head up into the mountains and explore nature... interesting... but I love Kent's uniqueness.... so after church this morning- where we were learning about God's creation!!- we headed to Green Mountain to explore some more of God's creation!
The whole fam- minus Aurora- in front of the Green Mountain trail head (this picture was taken by Kent's camera- looks pretty good!!)...
Kent testing his new camera...
Nature... can you dig it?
The kids really look like twins here I think...
Kent forgot that he has a phobia of bees, or pretty much any thing that flys near his face or his person... so we kept telling him to just relax but he kept twitching and jerking his face, and rubbing his arms, poor baby. I guess it was too much nature for the boy! I took a little video so you get the idea. We would have stayed longer but Kent was just getting too uncomfortable, and it's his birthday and all. We walked about 45 minutes total.
The group...
After that we came home, Jeromy and I took an afternoon nap cause we're old like that. Then we were taking Kent out to a dinner of his choosing. We had to go today cause tomorrow Jeromy works during the day, and I work swing, so for all of us to be together it had to be today! Kent wanted to go to Red Lobster. He ordered the 4 course meal special, we all did actually.... you ready?
Here's Kent enjoying his clam chowder...
Now he's enjoying his Cesar salad and cheesy biscuits...
Now his main course... some kind of shrimp (gross) and fries...And then dessert, little cinnamon donuts with frosting... this first picture is of the group singing him happy birthday, he looks really mad, but he just happened to be just about to close his eyes in this picture, he really wasn't mad....
Now he's enjoying his dessert...What a great weekend. The kids and I still have some stiff muscles from the Sound to Narrows run. OHHHH, by the way, I was able to look up the other 2 times I ran this race. And I have definitely improved. In 2007 I ran it in 1:32:00, in 2009 I ran it in 1:27:00, and this year 2011 I ran it in 1:14:03, I'd say that's a HUGE improvement, woo-hoo!!!!
Later gators...
