Another great busy weekend.
Here we go... Saturday morning Jeromy and Kent were supposed to go to the men's breakfast, but we woke up to our dining room leaking with the massive down pour of rain.... sooooo, instead of going to the men's breakfast, Jeromy had to go to Home Depot for some supplies. He then spent the next 2 hours on the roof fixing the "low" spot in the gutters. He was soaked- all the way to his underware!!! It was early in the morning, so the constant pounding woke us all up, but it had to be done. So thankful Jeromy knows what he's doing. I'm standing in our master bathroom upstairs taking this picture of him... I was worried about him being on that slick roof...
Of course later in the morning, it stopped raining for a bit, poor Jeromy! But I got some BEAUTIFUL fall pictures outside! But before I could take the pictures, Jade- my amazing spider killer- had to clear the way for me! I almost walked into the hugest web!
Jade was going to make "Cabbage Chicken Salad".... YUM
Kent was patiently doing his homework waiting for dinner to be done....
Time to eat...
We all really liked it... thanks Jade!
While having dinner, we got the call that Misty had been admitted to St. Joseph's hospital in Tacoma. We quickly ate our dinner, then Jeromy and I headed to Tacoma to visit her. She had a horrible night in the ER waiting room in PAIN. She was finally admitted into her room at 4am. And she didn't actually see her doctor until later Saturday. Soooo, when we saw her last night, she did have a morphine drip... which at one point the battery in it died and she didn't know until her pain came back... poor Misty, she has had a hard time with this whole process.
We visited for a couple hours, and they brought her some clear liquids, she was pretty happy cause she had had no food the whole day, just the IV. She was also going to have a procedure Sunday afternoon to put a stint in the tube that is leaking bile all into her her system. She has to have that for a week then they take that out. She was starting to doze about at about 8ish so we left.
We headed over to Jeromy's parents to visit for a couple of minutes since we were already in Tacoma. I was craving chocolate or something sweet like cookies, and they had chocolate chip cookies! It's the premade dough they just popped it in the oven and we had warm chocolate chip cookies! Woo-hoo!
We came home late and crashed....
SUNDAY
Sunday morning I woke up at 6 am and ran my 3 miles on the treadmil! It was awesome! Smoked another 500+ calories!
Then Jade was making her second meal for the weekend. This morning she was making "Wonderful Oatmeal Waffles", they also had banana in them! Sounded great!
We also had bought some 100% real maple syrup. I was telling my friend Michelle how I would always get stomach aches after eating pancakes or waffles, and she asked if we were using corn syrup, and I said yes. I always thought it was the heavy batters that was doing it, I never thought about the syrup I would drown my food in! So we were going to try the real maple syrup.
This was such a simple healthy meal. I think it was just oatmeal, a little bit of oil, water, half a banana and some salt and blend it all in the blender. You don't even need a mixing bowl. And then poor it into the griddle. It does take longer to cook than regular waffle mix, I was actually worried about it burning, but it didn't!
While it was cooking, I snapped a picture of Jeromy and I, when I take a picture like this I can't see what face he's making until I look at the picture I took. He thinks he's so funny, but this face made me die laughing.... what a goof ball....
I told him to smile regular so I took another one, but you can see I'm still laughing in this next picture. I love his goofy face.....
We also had some fresh scrambled eggs with the waffles....
Everybody loved the waffles except for Jade cause she hated banana... oh well! And neither Jeromy or I got stomach aches after eating the waffles with the 100% maple syrup. Thanks Michelle for the great tip!
Then we headed to church. I felt kinda bad cause I was up late last night, up early this morning, and I was so tired in church. I felt my head bob a couple times, I hate when that happens. I love to hear the Word of God, and it makes me feel like I'm too tired to care, but I do, I just could not keep my eyes open.
When we got home I took a nap. I needed it! When I woke up I took a couple more pretty fall pictures.... just look at those colors!!!
We've been doing pretty good about not having junk food in the house. But when you want something and it's not there it's kinda frustrating, right Jade? That girl was craving chocolate something fierce, it didn't help that I told her Joanne had made us warm chocolate chip cookies the night before! So she grabbed her money and her brother and they walked to the little gas station down the road and bought themselves some chocolate ice-cream. She called me on the way back saying it hit the spot. Here they are on their way out...
Then Jeromy and I headed to Costco to get some stuff we needed, including the ingredients to make "Jade's Mexican Surprise"!! I have been craving that dinner she made a few weeks ago for a while now. So I made it tonight for dinner....
After it cooks for 35 minutes I shred the chicken and it absorbs all the salsa it was cooking it... it TASTES SOOOO GOOOOOD!!!! Not to mention it smells fabulous... just sayin'.....
We all had a great dinner and watched a little of "The Left Behind" series.
Misty was supposed to have her procedure this afternoon, I just tried calling her cause I wanted to let you all know how she's doing.
It was good to hear her voice. She still sounded very tired, and she said she's still feeling a bit queasy. She said the doctor will come by some time tomorrow to let her know if the procedure was successful....yeah, tomorrow they'll let her know. I am so fed up with the lame treatment she's been getting. Which is kinda scary cause I have Group Health, too.
So that's about all for now. We all have full stomachs. We had a fun weekend, busy as usual. Saying prayers for my sister Misty that she heals now after all she's been thru, also prayers for Julia dealing with her migraines. And super hi-5 for Tessa for being such a great help to her mom while she was helping her sister, you're awesome Tessa, I also tried to comment on your blog and I couldn't for some reason, just wanted to say how cute the frogs were!
Good bye!
