At church this morning, the theme was being content with what you have, no matter what you have.
I just have to say I wish I had been a christian alot earlier in my life... my 20's would have been alot less painful. I worked alot and wanted everything money could buy, the best, the most, and I worked more over time to get even more.
It is so comforting to know that I don't need every little thing to be happy, I can be happy with what I have and step out of the rat race I was in. Such a simple concept to understand now, but I missed it completely then.
After church, we did our weekly Costco shopping. I got their huge thing of strawberries, and the container of blueberries. I was always worried about getting them "costco size" cause I didn't want them to go to waste. But then it dawned on me... I have a freezer! (Duh) So I got small freezer bags and cut up all the strawberries and made snack sizes with the blueberries mixed in. It made 2 weeks worth of fruit bags. And I am saving money by not buying a smaller carton at safeway every 3 days or so. YUMMY!!
While putting the groceries away I spotted some nestle chocolate chips, and thought I'd make some chocolate chip cookies for the family....Again... yum!
Then it was time to make dinner. I feel like I've been in the kitchen all day.... and I am happy! Did you hear that mom?!? I thought I'd never say that. But I love cooking for my family, and knowing they are eating good food together as a family! Here's the guys while the food is still steaming.... don't worry Kent IS eating his vegetables, he has a spinach salad on the table!
Jade is missing in this picture for a reason.... she's having dinner at Tim's house! Jeromy and I dropped her off about an hour ago. He lives just a little bit up the hill close by our house. We met his parents and they seem really nice. The dad works in the shipyard and knew some of the people I know in my shop.... small world. Anyway, Tim was making a stir-fry dinner for Jade (and his whole family). His dad said he cut up all the food himself and was cooking it solo. How sweet.
Jade brought her camera and said she would take pictures for me. She's so amazing! I told her the blogging audience would love to see pictures of her non-date with Tim. I call it a non-date cause it's not a date. They are just 2 friends having dinner.... let me think what I want people!
Anyway there will be another brief pause until we pick Jade up and then I'll add those pictures to this blog also!.....
..... here's the stir-fry dinner Tim made...
And here's Jade and Tim. They are so cute together! But they are still just friends! Jade had a great time, and now she's home safe and we are getting ready to watch the movie "Expelled".
Good night!
