One of Jade's home-school classes is Food Science. She has to make 18 dinners over the course of the semester. And we get to critique it!

She went on line and found a recipe for "Salmon Steaks with Grapefruit" and "Savory Stewed Potatoes". Sounds yummy! Part of the class is writing a grocery list of what is needed, keeping a list of the costs, and figuring out what food groups your meals fall into.
Here's Jade's grocery list...
She's so grown up, she even drove us to the store...
Picking out a couple of onions, I kept wanting to help her and she'd say, " I need to do it mom!" Ok ok, it's hard to let her go...
She rung up the groceries, too, but I paid... hehehe.
Here she is with her directions. Isn't she just the cutest? Look at that face!!
Jade had to chop alot of onion for both dishes, we were both cryin' by the end of the chopping... here's a video...
She also chopped some red peppers, and sauteed it.... yummmmm...
She also needed a bouillon cube for the potato recipe. Did I mention how cute she is?
Starting to smell good in the kitchen...
Here she is squeezing the grapefruit for it's juice and some "segments"....
Jade wanted me to take a picture of the salmon skin cause it was "pretty".... pretty gross that is!
That looks better!
Yummy Jade! Everything looks great. Part of the class is that who ever eats her meals fills out this little survey of questions rating from 1-5 on presentation, taste, etc. The fish was pretty tasty with that grapefruit juice and onion flavoring. We think the potatoes should have cooked longer or been cut a little smaller, but they tasted good too!
GREAT JOB JADE!!!!

Boy, that looks yummy. What time is dinner tomorrow?
Wow, Mason thought that was neat Jade. He loves to cook too.
Misty.
What a great class. It's wonderful practice for a household of her own someday. You don't have to cook and you get to try all these yummy recipes by her? Good deal!
