After the "Sound to Narrows" run we did mid-June, I started taking it kinda easy on the running... like not running at all. My knee/hip were bothering me a little bit. Now every thing's fine. I'm pretty sure the problem is my shoes. I've had the same pair of running shoes for over 2 years. You're supposed to get new shoes every 6 months or so if you run, cause the support breaks down over time.
Well, things come up, there always seemed to be something more important we needed to get instead of the shoes.
We went to the Sports Haus in Poulsbo yesterday, they did a shoe fitting for me to find how I walk, the arches and what would be the best support. Well, I'm happy to say my feet are the same size, not very common he said. Have a good arch, and I don't roll my feet inward when I walk. All good stuff. So he recommended this style of Asics, and then he said that should help my knee spasm, and he pointed to the exact spot my knee had been hurting. I couldn't' believe it. I mean, I know the knee is not a large part of the body but there are several places it could be hurting. He said he had the exact foot shape as I did and gets the same pain when his shoes wear out.
So I hope it really is just the shoe that has been holding me back. Check these babies out. Not really into the red look, but my feet and legs are going to be so happy!!
I'm testing them out today... in about 20 minutes...We have the Whaling Days run July 25th--- I gotta be ready for it!

Just finished a 1 and a half mile run (don't laugh Kyle!) and I'm happy to report the shoes felt great! I did feel that slight knee twinge at about 10 minutes in, but then it went away, and my hip felt fine. Usually my knee would act up and NOT stop then my hip would start. So this is good news, hope it stays that way. Thursday will be 2 miles, and I'll just keep increasing until I'm ready for the 4 miles July 25th -- woo-hoo!
