Beautiful day

I think we finally have our summer... hope I didn't just jinx it!

Well, yesterday, Jeromy and I got up at 6:30am to get a jump start on the barn job at the clients house. We worked over at his house in Tacoma from about 8:30 until 2pm, then we headed into the shipyard for our regular job, and got home after 12:30 am last night... LONG DAY!

The night before we had to get the huge door on top of the van. A little difficult but we got it up there.
The we headed to Tacoma. First Jeromy had to remove the old door (the second smaller door is on the back side). There was some rotten wood under the frame work, so Jeromy had to remove some pieces. The owner was bummed because he saw the damage and knew it needed to be repaired before the new work was done. So he said go ahead a draw up a new estimate for the added work cause he wanted it done. So we had to run to Home Depot and get some more wood and tools, adding a couple hundred dollars more to the job, more $$$.
You can see what needed to be replaced here....Jeromy was able to to use some of the wood from the old door to replace these gaps, but he needed the new wood for behind the front boards. there was just nothing to nail to otherwise. I just thought it was cool that the guy knew this, and knew it would cost more. You never know if the client will get mad at the fact that things will cost more. But he said we had no way of knowing what was under there. So it worked out pretty well. Here's Jeromy out with the big guns drilling huge holes for the new hard ware. After Jeromy drilled the hole and pushed the 8" bolt thru, I was on the other side, putting on the washer and the nut...And the new door hung. It will look 100% better when the whole thing is painted and the trim painted. On the front right side of the barn Jeromy had to also dig some of the ground away and put in pavers so the door would slide smoothly. And it was PERFECT! It slid perfectly.

The home owner said he was very happy with the progress, and that the fact that the new door is on and working he said put him at great ease already. The old door was scraping on the ground and he said it was difficult to open and close.

Not anymore!

Today, I have to go into work early for training (lame). So Jeromy had to go to the job site by himself. Even though he's more than capable. I think today, he's getting the paint trim, (a single nut that I lost yesterday in the grass-woops!!), and then he's going to start sanding the barn and prepping it for the paint, and possibly work on the small door install.

Enjoy the day!
