So my mom is slowly recovering. Every single day she is doing something new. She is not recovering as fast as she would like to, but all the therapists say she is recovering faster than average for the severity of the stroke she had. Here she is walking. She is so determined to work hard for the physical therapists. Every morning she is itching to get out of that bed to work hard- even though half way thru she's teasing the therapist about torchering her.
She walked all the way to me! Then she stands up nice and tall- good for those achy back and neck muscles.
Look who flew into town from Texas. My little (little?) brother Nick! Things were kinda scary initially with my mom's stroke, so Nick came up to see her/us. He was only up for a few days, but my mom and I hadn't seen in 5 years, and the rest of the family hadn't seen him in 8 years. Too long Nick!
My mom has been receiving beautiful flowers and cards from family and friends. Her friend Sonia comes by just about everyday to visit my mom and give her amazing hand massages. One day while Sonia was visiting, my dad, Misty, Kelsey, Nick, Jeromy and I were able to go out to lunch and visit. Jeromy took this out side Red Robin. Nick does NOT like his picture being taken, so I said I'd only take about 5 while he was here.
Only a couple more shots left, so I better make them good. Here's me, Nick and Misty.
My mom working hard again. She couldn't wait to practice on the stairs in the gym area. They have 14 stairs to get to the top level of their house. So she's got to master them. She went up this small flight of stairs up and down twice. It takes alot of work and she's exhausted when she's done, but she's doing it!
Here the physical therapist, Karena, is "torchering" my mom again on the parallel bars by having her foot roll around a 2 pound ball with control. It's pretty tough, I have to keep reminding my mom to breath cause she's focusing so hard.
Ok, last one of Nick and I- making it good. Oh man, it's off center, but that's all I get. Big baby!
I really like this picture of my mom and I. She looks like herself here.
So Jade is still in California. Her dad helped her get her first job and she has just finished working her first 40 hour work week- totally crazy. She has a badge and wears safety glasses, I told her to take a picture with her cell phone and send it to me. Here it is- isn't she adorable! Working girl!
We had Aurora this weekend. Super adorable herself, too!
What got a couple pampered chef items. I really loved Jeromy's chopper he had and I "aquired" when we got married, but I think it's been abused over the years, so we finally got a new one. It's hard to see, but the old one has multiple cracks in it where it twists into the top assembly. We also got a couple new nice spatulas from pampered chef- yay!
My mom is going to try to stay the night by her self tonight at the rehab place. I've been with her every night at the hospital ICU and at the rehab, but 2 weeks of sleeping in a cot is getting to me. I am physically and emotionally and mentally exhausted. My mom knows this, so she told me I should stay home tonight. But I know she doesn't want to be there alone... it's so tough. I want to be there with her as much as she wants me to be there. I just need a good night sleep :o( Anyway, hoping she has a restful night tonight. Going bright and early tomorrow to see what new amazing thing she can do. Oh- today she pedalled on a bike-like-machine for the first time. The PT lady had to hold my mom's hand on the lever, but other than that my mom did it for 10 whole minutes by herself with 2 small breaks! She said it felt so good for her whole body to be moving together. The PT lady said she had to stop at 10 minutes! LOL GO MOM!!
